EMU Logistics

EMU’s are designed with the same dimensions as conventional ISO containers and therefore can be transported in multiple ways which maximizes flexibility. They can be transported via traditional cargo ships, cargo planes, helicopters, and land vehicles such as trucks. During times of crisis, cargo ships can easily be retrofitted to become a temporary hospital by on-boarding EMU’s. This makes it easier for hospitals to be deployed in the Philippine archipelago when streets are damaged.

For day-to-day operations, the system will utilize land transportation to be economically viable. The maximum length of a cargo truck can carry a 40 foot container, which is a total of 4 different EMU’s. These EMU’s are not only a facility in itself but can also carry vital resources such as medicine and human resources. Due to its multiple functions, EMU’s are a lot more efficient, which leads to a lot of savings.

EMU Logistics Cycle

The diagram below portrays the logistics cycle the EMU experiences on a daily basis as it travels from a Central Hospital to a Provincial Hospital. As shown, EMU’s transport essential health resources such as medicine and manpower. En route, EMU’s can also serve underpopulated areas by creating a pop up clinic. EMU’s adapt to its use case and has the ability to transform itself due to its modularity. It also has many ways it connect to different systems and itself.
